Small place with no dine in service, everything is to go. The lady that takes your order is very nice and welcoming. Gives you all the details about the food and wait times. They take card. I knew I wanted the fried chicken, but it took me awhile to choose a side. I ended up with the Indonesian noodles, they come with chicken as well. The noodles were ok a big portion but a bit bland. She did offer it spicy to me and I said no. Maybe it would've been better? The chicken is 6pc for a good price it is very crispy and just a bit salty but not where it's a complaint. When they give it to you they leave the lid open so the chicken stays crispy on your way home. It worked. Definitely going again to try more from the menu.

Wow the last time I wrote a review here was 5 years ago!? Well 5 years passed and this spot is still AMAZING. The bbq chicken plate is my go-to. The chicken is so juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. I'm convinced their mac salad has crack in it because how is it thattt good omg. Also their spam musubi is delicious. Everything on their menu is a hit.

I didn't even have a chance to take a picture of my order because once I took my first bite of their fried chicken, I just wanted to dig into the crispy all so goodness! It was the crunchiest fried chicken I have ever had and the meat was juicy and flavorful. I'm addicted and wanted to go back the next day to get another order but had to control myself. I'll be back for sure this week!

Indonesian fried rice. Crispy fried chicken. What can I say? Yes and DAMN YES, cowboy! The fried rice comes in whatever spice level you request. Spice and heat are my life (if you cut me, I bleed Sriracha sauce. No, I do. I can't donate at the Red Cross anymore. They put a little pepper sticker on my plasma bag and nobody wanted it). Ok, that was sorta gross, even to me..... Back to the food. The rice is really tasty, egg on top. We got the medium spice level, honestly I thought it was not very spicy. But have I mentioned the Sriracha blood? But the chicken?? Amazing as almost everyone has said. I do not know how they do it, but I wish they made more of it. Crispy, moist, delish. They limit the orders for some reason. I don't know why...maybe I can offer to get them more chicken storage space? Besides within my belly, of course....so come here and get the crispy fried chicken. But if you snag the last order for the day, and I am standing behind you waiting to order? I will fall to the floor and cry. I will. And won't that embarrass you enough that you'll just give me your order?! Let's hope....

Yay!! I was craving katsu chicken for awhile and I came across this when I was looking for food recommendations in Pasadena. It's a small family shop, but luckily we were able to get in without a wait in line. They have a great selection of food options! I ordered the Katsu Chicken plate, while my friend ordered the spicy fried rice. The wait for the food wasn't bad, especially knowing that they make it fresh! Since it's to-go only, we took it to a park 15 minute drive away- and my katsu was still crispy!! I was so happy to eat it :D The chicken was crispy and not dry! I've never really had a lemon with my katsu but it was good still. The katsu sauce is more like bbq sauce though, to note. I enjoyed the mac salad! My friend's spicy fried rice also had really great flavor. Both of our orders had great portioning! Service was lovely, and parking was not an issue since there was a lot for it. Thank you! Will be back again in the future.

Can't believe I didn't try this sooner! I know TikTok is in the middle of potentially getting banned but if not for TikTok, I wouldn't have found Top. Tucked in a small plaza, this takeout-only restaurant had quite a wait at 6pm on a weekday. My bf and I were there to try the popular fried chicken and we came at the perfect time because we were the very last chicken order of the day! We also got the bbq mix plate to share. Fried chicken: 1000000/10 LOVE. I understand the hype now. Bbq mix: Forget ono, come here! It's actually the best I've ever had and I had this in Hawaii. Overall, amazing food and I can see why so many people rave about this place. The auntie that took our order was so sweet. Can't wait to come back!

Not to be confused with Tops, which is also in Pasadena! This unique Indonesian-Hawaiian restaurant is located in a low key plaza with little traffic and cars during the time that we visited. When we went they were only doing take out orders and unfortunately, they were already sold out of their famous fried chicken. Darn! Next time for sure. We got the: 1) Oseng Spicy Combo Fried Rice: -Pretty large portion of fried rice that came with a generous amount of meat for the toppings (chicken, shrimp, beef), as well as veggies. -Rice was nicely seasoned and moist. Had a nice kick at the start with a subtle heat throughout with the chilis. -Good garlic taste along with the onions and shallots. Nice combo of very slightly sweet with savory. -Delicious. 2) Fish Musubi: -Usually don't see fish musubi being offered and the filet was nice and slightly crispy on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside. -Pretty good musubi. 3) Kalua Pork with Cabbage: -Staple Hawaiian dish. -The pork was super moist and tender. Nice rich and smoky flavor went great with the cabbage. -Can't go wrong with a classic. Will definitely come back for their fried chicken!

When your wife tells you "the best crunchy fried chicken to eat is in Pasadena", you should believe her and get in the car. Top Restaurant is a hole-in-the wall Hawaiian bbq joint that happens to also be Indonesian Fusion. They're located inside a strip mall in Pasadena on Colorado/Allen Ave. There's plenty of free parking inside this corner shopping plaza. Top Restaurant opens at 11am and they only do take-out or phone orders. After you place your order, you can grab a chair inside, stand outside, or return in the standard 35-40 minute wait since all food is cooked fresh. The Crispy Fried chicken is sold to 1 customer only at a time and they only make around 45 orders a day. One order contains six pieces and comes with house and spicy sauce. This was a great place to checkout and see how locals in Pasadena dine. I definitely was intrigued by the Indonesian fried rice and it did not disappoint. The rice had noodles too and was the perfect pairing to go with the crispy fried chicken. No one should ever judge a book by its cover because Top Restaurant is living up to its name!
